5th Grade Awards Of Distinction Artwork Announced
BARTOW, Florida / PR Free / November 16, 2012
Can’t think of the right gift for your teacher this year? What about a Kids Tag Art vanity tag for his or her front car bumper? With proceeds going to classroom arts, it’s a “win-win” states Joe Tedder, Tax Collector for Polk County and honorary chairman for Kids Tag Art, a countywide art design contest and fundraising project exclusively for fifth graders. “This time of year, teachers and students can’t wait to learn who are this year’s award winning designs! This year’s artwork is the best yet, and getting better every year.”
As in years past, this year’s Awards of Distinction recipients represent two students from each participating school across Polk County, encompassing over 150 creative designs of nearly 100 public, private, and charter schools. These young artists’ tag art is now being offered for sale online, at www.PolkTaxes.com. Orders placed by December 3 will be delivered in time for the holidays.
Again this year, Southern Homes of Polk County is the major underwriter for the project and a major contributor to arts education in Polk County. “We at Southern Homes know creativity is critical in business and for our community. Projects like Kids Tag Art help to introduce and encourage creative thought. Southern Homes is excited about being part of it this program,” states Greg Masters, President of Southern Homes. To date, the project has raised over $125,000 for Polk County arts classes, all of which goes to enhance the teaching resources in the classroom.
Recipients of the Awards of Distinction will be honored at an awards ceremony in early 2013 to recognize their accomplishments. These designs will also become part of the 2012 Kids Tag Art traveling exhibit, which showcases their art throughout the remainder of the school year. Beginning December 1-18, the public may view the Kids Tag Art Exhibit on display at The Lakeland Center through the 18 when it travels to the Board of County Commissioner’s Neil Combee Administration Building. For future dates and locations, refer to the KTA Event Calendar which is located at www.PolkTaxes.com. The exhibit is open to the public and free of charge.
In addition to major sponsor Southern Homes of Polk County, other sponsors include Douglass Screen Printers, Grasslands and Woodbridge, MidFlorida, Vecchio, Feldman & Carrier, P.A., Alphagraphics, Florida Heart Research Institute, Polk Education Foundation and business partners Polk Museum of Art, Polk Arts Alliance, Polk County Schools, Douglass Screen Printers, and host, The Polk County Tax Collector’s Office.
